WordPress 2.2 one-click install is live on the Grid.

The busy (mt) ninjas have updated our one-click WordPress install to 2.2 on the Grid. This looks to be a significant upgrade…You can learn more about it straight from Matt right here.
Now, if you already have WordPress installed on your Grid account, Do not(!) use the one-click installer to upgrade your current version of WordPress. It will break your blog and erase all of your hard work. WordPress has a good 5 step walkthrough on upgrading here.
Last but not least, (mt) would also like to send a special thanks to Matt Mullenweg and the entire WP team for all of their hard work. Congrats!

Hmm. I would imagine that Drupal 4.7 -> 5 is a much more significant upgrade than WordPress 2.1 -> 2.2, moreover it has been made available since January this year.

Hi Scott. Yup, we know about the Drupal release, and it’s on our todo list. It’s a little harder to get it set for the one click stuff, but fear not, we’ll be getting to it. Thanks for the input!

Look forward to seeing Drupal updated as well… thanks!

It’d be great if there is an automatic upgrade option provided by (mt) as well
would there be?

gm – unfortunately the automagic upgrade is not in the cards any time soon. People can, and do, modify too many parts of WordPress directly, which means that forcibly upgrading them would break them left and right. So, the best upgrade path is to follow the upgrade instructions right from the WP that we linked to in the blog post above. Cheers.
