(mt) + Fowa Dinner with the Stars III!
February 11th, 2010 at 12:46 pm
Update!! Here are our two lucky winners! Congrats!
Due to unforeseen circumstances, Scott Carter couldn’t make it, so we picked our second choice!
Future of Web Apps, a cornerstone of Carsonified events and a true weather-vane in web app development trends, is also one of our favorite excuses to get out of the office. FOWA Miami goes way beyond the normal web conference experience by combining brilliant minds with fantastic Miami!
Keeping with recent tradition, we’re focusing our collective give-away powers to produce 2 FOWA Miami conference passes with access to the VIP dinner for two lucky web developers + web hosting for life on a (dv) Server!
To win this glamorous prize, comment on this blog post and let us know in 2 sentences why you are THE most qualified person to win this prize.
Please Note: The FOWA passes do not include airfare or hotel.
Update: Comments are now closed. Winners will be announced Monday, February 15th!

Carsonified = Mr. Miyagi. Me = Daniel LaRusso.
February 11th, 2010 at 1:23 pm
I bet you’re probably going to pick the person who would be the most ecstatic, hysterical, crazed and grateful person if they won. Its me.
February 11th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
As a budding developer with ideas ready to put into action, I’ve already purchased my ticket to FOWA to grow my skills and improve my techniques with those who have already paved the way in this exciting market. As a budding developer who recently started a new family, my wife would LOVE the extra $50/mo in hosting fees I pay each month to go to something a little more practical.
February 11th, 2010 at 1:24 pm
I am definitely the person for this because of my interest in making the web the best that it can be. And because I am a 18 year old student trying to learn as much as I can, this will give me the opportunity to meet some very influential people and to expand my horizons. Thank you for your consideration.
February 11th, 2010 at 1:25 pm
I’m the most qualified to win because I’m not as qualified as most developers in the Web Apps realm. Hopefully if granted this opportunity that could change and I’d be well on my way to becoming more informed about the Web App world.
February 11th, 2010 at 1:35 pm
In the next month, I’m quitting my job and focusing solely on making my professional life and personal life the happiest and healthiest it can be. I’m not nailed down on what I want to do first; start my own company and build web applications, freelance, or simply travel – and FOWA Miami would be an amazing place to inspire and jumpstart all my plans.
February 11th, 2010 at 1:59 pm
I’m a designer working at a company that builds an awesome web app.
Also because I like winning things and a VIP dinner in Miami sounds pretty awesome.
February 11th, 2010 at 2:15 pm
Trying to get a startup off the ground is hard work, but its small companies that really bring innovation. FOWA Miami and free hosting for life would definitely be the boost I need to help my startup swim instead of sink.
February 11th, 2010 at 2:18 pm
I deserve this because when I attended FOWA 2008 I knew about (mt) because of the badge holder… and since then I´ve been a client with 3 x (dv) .
I was thinking about attending this year, but need a good incentive
February 11th, 2010 at 2:20 pm
I’m the interactive creative director for Disney, and over the next year I’ll be developing 50+ apps that support the various Disney divisions. I’ll also be exploring how these apps translate onto mobile devises like the iPhone & iPad.
February 11th, 2010 at 2:58 pm
Because I’m 16 years old web designer interested in making web apps.
Because I won’t be able to afford the ticket that soon.
You said in two sentences.
February 11th, 2010 at 3:33 pm
I was able to attend the conference last year, before I got laid off. It was a great opportunity to meet interesting people and it helped me a great deal. I would love to go back and get inspired again.
February 11th, 2010 at 3:35 pm
Seeing as how I invented the Internet, you practically owe it to me to pick me.
None of you would have jobs had I not used my lunch break to create the internet.
February 11th, 2010 at 3:46 pm
I’m a Web Developer. I’m developing a non-profit news website for my community and this would be greatly enhance the project.
February 11th, 2010 at 3:51 pm
I am the most qualified to win this prize because I am looking into the future to move onto major development Internet wise. I have developed many smaller web apps and I am working on one to integrate with the worlds most popular bulletin board software that will revolutionize it!
And I use a Mac..
February 11th, 2010 at 3:54 pm
I’m THE most qualified person to win this prize because I have never been to FOWA and have always wanted to attend. I am also a huge fan of (mt) and winning lifetime hosting on a (dv) would be the best thing I’ve ever won.
February 11th, 2010 at 4:55 pm
Let’s just say hypothetically (with emphasis on “pathetically”) there were these two web designers who – having not yet realized the sheer amazingness of (mt) – on one particularly dark and stormy night, were making a very important site and e-mail switchover, and let’s, for sake of argument, also say were making the aforementioned switchover for a singularly bitter, cruel, and (more than likely) heartless client – who may have been running this seemingly harmless looking website as a cover for a massive baby seal clubbing operation – and, again for argument, that this client had stressed repeatedly – through a series of e-mails that left the web developers wondering if this client’s CAPS LOCK button wasn’t glued down with some baby-seal-based-sealant – that switchover in question needed to be “SEAMLESS” and “PERFECT” if the web designers previously mentioned wanted to retain certain vital organs, and hypothetically, that the hosting company of choice (names omitted to protect the guilty) for those two designers was – as is now evident – of some ill repute, and said “SEAMLESS” and “PERFECT” switchover was, in fact, “BUGGY” and “HOLE-LY” and “QUITE LESS THAN PERFECT”. Well, those two designers might need to fly to Miami – and get a new host while they’re at it.
February 11th, 2010 at 4:59 pm
I’d like to go because I’m figuring it out as I go, I live in Miami, and I still can’t afford a FoWA ticket
February 11th, 2010 at 6:17 pm
I am a student who is studying web design and wants to learn from the best and whos better than carsonified? I am intrigued and willing to do what it takes to get to Miami for such a huge event in the industry that I love.
February 11th, 2010 at 11:32 pm
Because I wanna play with the best… in hopes of not dying like the rest.
February 12th, 2010 at 3:15 am
I love these sci-fi conventions.
February 12th, 2010 at 6:57 am
Because we’re a startup and we’re from Moscow
February 12th, 2010 at 8:07 am
The difference between the future and the present is that someone in the present is thinking bold about the future. That’s me.
February 12th, 2010 at 9:28 am
I’m a young web developer from Philly. I’ve developed a career on making the web a tangible place for the world to interact with.
February 12th, 2010 at 10:42 am
You should without a doubt pick me because I am a student and could never in a million years afford to go otherwise! On another note I am trying hard to get as involved as I can in the industry and am looking to make some good contacts so I can begin my business ventures when I graduate. Thanks, Phil.
February 12th, 2010 at 10:45 am
Firstly, I’m a digital media lecturer who’s teaching a bunch of young people to become cutting-edge web developers. Secondly, I also need a brilliant excuse to get out of the office.
February 12th, 2010 at 2:40 pm
One day soon I’ll be speaking at such events. Media Temple will say they knew me when I was still below the radar. Haha
February 12th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
From Russia with love! Keep (mt) on top of the brands and that 2 letters recognizable like BWM or GM
February 12th, 2010 at 4:19 pm
Because I already use Mediatemple to host our web app Task.fm. And we’ll continue to do so as our app continues to grow and grow
February 12th, 2010 at 4:22 pm
Trying to push the envelope at Emory University, introducing them to new technologies and new ways to bend the web. My motto is think it, dream it, create it, and I want my creations to help users interact with the web in new and exciting ways.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:23 pm
I LOVE all things INTERNET and I also LOVE LOVE LOVE (mt). I am currently enrolled in Computer Science at LSSU and have been doing web design/programming for years, it would not go to waste!
February 12th, 2010 at 4:34 pm
Because one day, I’ll be a speaker at FOWA and thanking MediaTemple before a large audience for the free hosting account that is serving this great/profitable web app, telling them story of how I got my start with a prophetic comment to win and get my start. On the other hand I could say how I didn’t win – but that would not be as good a story or promo for MT.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:38 pm
Two sentences – I love web design / development, and have been hoping to go to FOWA for quite some time. In addition, I’m working on a web app startup that will revolutionize the social engagement space…stay tuned!!
February 12th, 2010 at 4:39 pm
Because Greeks do it better.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:41 pm
I am already a happy (mt) because you guys have the best support. Also, Free hosting would be very helpful for me as a start up.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
I would like to go to the FOWA as much as I will go to the FOWD. This and the free hosting will be great as I just started my business and I’m still looking to lower my costs (even if I’m already using a (dv) 3.5), plus it would be great if I can save money for the entrance at the FOWA.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:49 pm
Working in the cloud computing sector keeps me interested in emerging technologies. While I don’t know everything, I strive to keep myself in a position where I’m always learning.
February 12th, 2010 at 4:54 pm
I have 10 years of experience designing and developing web based applications on a variety of platforms, including the PHP/Apache/Linux and .NET/IIS/Win stacks. Some highlighted features of my work include custom graphic user interfaces, 100% W3C compliant (X)HTML Strict/CSS front end web designs, enterprise level PHP and ASP web applications and custom programming, developing and deploying SQL Server, MySQL, and Access databases, creating custom content management and ecommerce systems from scratch, and deploying, maintaining, and hosting all of these technologies… and as a winner I will promote the heck out of media temple (whom I follow on Twitter, and participate with on Virb).
February 12th, 2010 at 5:18 pm
I have been a happy (mt) customer for several years now and I share that happiness with everyone I can. I would love to go to FOWA to expand my horizons, but since I have a day job I can’t afford the ticked price + the time.
February 12th, 2010 at 5:19 pm
Imagine this: it’s FOWA 2013, a room full of iPad carrying developers with web app ideas.
I get up to address this crowd, a hush falls in the room, I run a fantastic forward-thinking web app company. Here’s how I open: “3 years ago I attended FOWA, got inspired, built this app hosted by MediaTemple – never been down, and helped thousands of people… I only made it to FOWA because I won this contest… Thank you MediaTemple, thank you very much.” (Applause, not a dry eye in the room.)
let’s make this vision come true…
February 12th, 2010 at 5:21 pm
because i promise to give the community a funny video every month if i win
February 12th, 2010 at 5:38 pm
First off I’m a Steve Carell look alike – running Dunder Mifflin is a tough job. Secondly I’m a WordPress guru, enabling college newspapers to get online.
February 12th, 2010 at 5:50 pm
As a Canadian from the Great White north, I could use the lifetime hosting and trip – rather than be buried under the snow!
