We’re very pleased to announce WordPress 3.0, now available as a 1-click install in the AccountCenter for all (gs) Users. This release represents a GIANT step forward for the WordPress platform, and we’re excited to get the release out to you. Please check out their great blog post detailing all the changes. How do I get it?

Fresh Installs: The 1-click installer has been updated. Login to your AccountCenter and get started!

Upgrades: All (gs) users can visit the ‘Upgrade’ tab in their current WordPress install. It’s that easy.We hope this helps to get everyone as excited about the new release as our whole team is. We highly recommend the upgrade, and want to send huge love and congrats to the entire WP team for such an amazing release! In terms of new goodies, WordPress 3.0 is bringing it strong, with over 1000 bug fixes, loads of new developer-friendly updates, usability tweaks, and the ability to manage multiple blogs now standard.

Integrated MU: Manage Multiple Blogs

Probably the most anticipated feature of 3.0, the merging of WordPress MU (multi-user) gives all WordPress users the ability to manage multiple blogs from a singe administrative panel. Previously, WordPress MU was a separate project – now users get all the functionality with one single install.

Beyond Blogging: A True CMS

With so many custom options and many companies creating entire businesses around custom WordPress themes, it’s no surprise the WP team made some big updates to make our lives easier, moving the platform from a simple blogging engine to a true CMS. A few key improvements include custom post types, menu systems, taxonomies, unique author post templates, and more.

New Default Theme: Twenty Ten

Kubrick, the long-time default WP theme had a very long run, but most would agree it was time for an update. Twenty Ten includes a clean look, with custom or pre-selectable header image selections, readability improvements, and more.
